National Safety Stand-Down Week

Falls happen. They don’t need to.

Join groups nationwide next week for National Safety Stand-Down week. It takes three easy steps: plan, provide, train.

Plan on it

Plan ahead to get the job done safely.

We all know “measure twice, cut once”. The same goes for safety planning. If you know what the job ahead will entail, it’s a quick online search to ensure you’re using the right ladder or safety equipment. Planning correctly doesn’t just save time on-site, which saves money – it can also save lives.

Provide and conquer

Provide the right equipment for the job.

If you feel like getting nerdy about the different gear you can use, there’s an entire non-profit institute for ladders- the American Ladder Institute! You can install the NIOSH Ladder Safety App, it even has an angle measuring tool to set an extension ladder safely. Washington University in St. Louis even collaborated with CPWR and NIOSH to create an entire online catalog of fall prevention devices.

Train, train, train

Train everyone to use the right equipment and how to do it safely.

With so many resources at our fingertips, there’s no excuse for inadequate training.  From free online courses through L&I, to in-person training provided by industry professionals (hello!), the options are limitless. Get started today by downloading the National Safety Stand-Down app. You’ll have immediate access to toolbox talks, videos and more.
